Historical Background of Paul's Stay With the Corinthians • Spotlight • City of Corinth
The book of Acts lets us know that Paul stayed at the city of Corinth for a year and a half (Acts 18:11) despite the average 1-2 month stay he would have held to, to account for the cities on his extensive travel list. Paul also wrote at least three letters to the Christians at Corinth represented by 1st and 2nd Corinthians. When looking at ancient Corinth it becomes easy to see why it would have been a good place for Paul to hunker down and teach.

Tour Stop 20: Corinth: The Cross Roads of the Confederacy
In 1862 the cross roads of the Mobile & Ohio and Memphis & Charleston railroads in Corinth, Mississippi, served as one of the most significant locations in the country. If Union forces could take control of the rail lines, they would gain access to the Southern heartland. If Confederate forces could hold onto it, they would be able to continue to ship supplies and men throughout the southern states.

CORINTH--WHERE GOD USED PAUL TO WRITE MORE EPISTLES THAN ANYWHERE ELSE & ACTS 18 (#5)
Here's our class field trip to Corinth.
Paul came to Corinth as a part of his strategic campaign to flood the Roman Empire with the Gospel. If you look at a map, Paul went to the key cities of the Empire. The commercial, religious, and cultural centers would widely influence the Roman world. Paul picked cities that were seaports, super highway crossroads, and centers of travel and communication.
Nowhere was that goal more clearly seen than here. Corinth was the commercial center of the Roman world, with upwards of half a million people in the surrounding area. Paul knew that what God did here would radiate out across the Med in a matter of months. That's why Paul's 18 months here, and 6 Epistles written to or from here--FOREVER impacted Christ's church.

David and Barbara Crossman continue their video journey in Paul's footsteps from Israel to Turkey, Greece, and Rome. This time, Corinth, site of Paul's beloved and troublesome church. Context gives greater depth of meaning to the words, sometimes harsh, sometimes loving, sometimes cajoling, of his letters. #davidcrossman, #davidacrossman, #footstepsofpaul, #paulincorinth, #corinth
